Aqua Reveal Satin Bright Soft Water Peel

It was time. After 8-weeks of a regular cleanse and moisturize routine, it was inevitable. I needed to exfoliate.

8-weeks?
I know. I know.

But such is the life of a model. It’s summer. I can’t use enzyme scrubs or acid peels and strip the summer tan off my face, leaving it pale in comparison to the rest of my body. It’s fashion week. I had to wait until after nyfw, lest I draw out impurities and cause a breakout or sensitivity when I’m expected to my look my best. Needless to say, models have no time during fashion week for additions to the beauty regiment. It’s “go go go,” or you get left behind.

But half way through fashion week my face looked: yuck! No matter his much I cleansed, my face looked as if I had been playing in the sand box.

Aw… Screw it. I’ll take the chance. We all look beat-up anyway at this point.

So I turned to Aqua Reveal- a skin care brand that “believes that gentle, effective and regular exfoliation is an essential part of maintaining healthy, youthful and radiant skin.” They’ve developed a Soft Water Peel with out acids or enzymes, which contain emollients and conditioners.

But one look at the instructions, I was dubious about it’s effectiveness.

Instructions: after cleansing and rinsing face and neck with water, pat skin lightly with towel. Massage gel onto skin to release dead skin cells. Massage longer and add more gel as needed for more exfoliation. Rinse thoroughly with water. May also be used on neck.

Hello, 2-minutes/ 3-minutes: no time frame for which to let the product sit was listed.

It can’t possibly….. Oh. Opps… Bottle’s already open. 😋

It’s a clear, semi-liquid/ semi-gel substance with no fragrance or smell.
I carefully spread the product, starting with my chin and cheeks with the tips of my fingers. Within a few sec mounds it sloughed mounds, yes mounds, of dead skin. I’ve never seen gentle exfoliation like this, except during a facial. I worked my way up to the nose, t-zone, forehead and Aqualung Reveal, even, rolled away dead skin from under my eyebrows.

It was gentle enough to use around my eyes, which I always pay close attention to because I have some slight sun damage on one side.

My skin was truly instantly brighter and smoother.

In less than a minute, Aqua Reveal left my skin with a slight squeaky clean feel. However, squeaky clean is what you want to avoid when exfoliating or cleansing your skin. Squeaky clean means you’re stripping your skin of precious lipids which protect an naturally moisturize your skin. So I’d use this product once a week or every other week, opting to alternate with something less effective. Also it did draw out impurities, so be prepared for a few short-lived blemishes and a little redness. But after wearing a few pounds of makeup this week, this is part of the well welcomed healing process. Both the redness and blemishes were gone by morning.

So there you have it. No fancy story, no messy tea, no drama to tell. Just happy with this product, and ready to hit the bed. After all, it’s still fashion week and I’m exhausted.

Good night, Aqua Reveal

Hi! A friend directed me to your site as I’m looking to start a new skincare routine. Disclaimer, I’m new to all of this. How often should I exfoliate, once a month, every two weeks?

      Hi FA!

Exfoliating depends on skin type and age. Skin cells shed less easily the older we get. I recently posted a tip on exfoliating on IG, which reads:
“Your skin is comprised of 8 layers of which the top 2, the dermis & stratum cortex, are made up of dead skin cells. So it’s important to exfoliate twice a week, no more. To stimulate blood flow to the outermost layers, and collagen production and the cell renewal process.” I hope this helps. Oh, and thank your friend for me!
