Life Stories Skin Care Tips

Got That….

dewy skin, summer bronzers, and enhancement makeup

People ask. They gawk and stare. OoOoo so annoying…

Nah, just kidding. But they do ask, and I wish I had a better answer. I started using Oil of #Olay when I was 7. Then when the bottle ran out, I put water in it and pretended to use Oil of #Olay when I was 7. When I was 14,  mom convinced me to, only, wash my face with a washcloth and to dry with a light cotton cloth. She was a head of her time; the 3 whole days I did it, my face was clean.

Truth is, I don’t know why I have good skin. I do take care of it, now. Then? I don’t know. I can list a series of things I did right. Of course I went through my round of pubescent pimples- which I’d constantly ward off with benzoyl peroxide. At 22 I battled a bout of stressed, induced acne for which treatment really consisted of: having a seat. Let’s not forget that I’m allergic to everything: plants, trees, grass, pets, people, Earth. After my first cancer scare, I swore off anything that came in a wrapper and drinks with dyes and coloring. It wasn’t a hard choice for a 12-year old. The words stomach cancer reminded me of this documentary where they stripped paint off of a car hood with cola. It reminded me of my Dad’s story about substituting Kool Aid for dishwasher detergent while on Army KP duty. It reminded me of zombies.

Point is just because I don’t know why I’ve been blessed with good skin, doesn’t mean I don’t know how to keep it. Ah ha……. There you go. So it’s time I start listing.  Here’s a #skincaretip for you: If you find that your skin isn’t responding to your daily #moisturizer the same way it use to, (It happens, Dude. Every now and then you’d swear that little gnomes come into your room and swap out the contents of the same bottle that’s been sitting on your nightstand for the past 30-days or so.), don’t be afraid to add a drop or two of #aloe into your #bodycare product to give it boost. Then wait before you sit on the sofa. I swears by it.

Wow.. that’s a good tip… I’ve been using Oil of Olay Moisturizer (tradition passed down from my mom) and I feel it not working as well as it used to… Couple drops of Aloe it is … I’ll see how it works 🙂

      Hi Elee!

My aloe vera trick could really work for you, and I love Olay too! But it’s probably time to switch skin care products. This can be a sign that your skin just requires different a treatment and ingredients. Of course, You can always go back to Olay. Olay is a skin care tradition passed on to me too. Give me an update on how this tip works for you!
